Burns Night

This month we will be celebrating Burns Night. The children will be creating artwork of the poet Robert Burns, the author of many Scottish poems. They will be listening to a Robert Burns poem and eating Scottish food at morning snack.

Chinese New Year

The children will be encouraged to copy Chinese letters and numbers onto a fan. For morning snack, they will be offered noodles, rice, bean sprouts, prawn crackers with sweet chilli sauce, pulled pork in plum sauce and lychees.

WOW of the Month

The children love to share and celebrate their achievements and learning they do at home with their friends and staff at pre-school. This is shared as a group activity before the children go home at 12 noon and 3.00 pm. The apple is then placed on our WOW Tree on the classroom wall for the month. At the end of the month, we will be awarding a 'WOW of the Month'. The winner will receive a prize and a certificate. Please write on the apple anything which your child has learnt or achieved. This may be linked to their Next Steps or anything which you feel is worthy of recognition! Please help yourself to apples which will be with the signing-in sheet. There is a golden apple by the signing-in sheet for the children to post their WOW apples. Please write your child's name on the apple. We hope that you and your child will enjoy sharing with us their achievements and learning.

Being Healthy

In line with our Food and Drink Policy, we promote healthy eating and regard snack and mealtimes as an important part of our day. Eating represents a social time for children and adults and helps children to learn about healthy eating. As part of Holly’s Level 4 Certificate, she has become the pre-school’s PANCo (Physical Activity and Nutrition Coordinator). Holly has displayed lots of useful information on our blue parent notice board. She has also sent out information to give suggestions on providing a healthy lunch at pre-school. Every month, together with our Newsletter, Holly will choose a topic or activity to help keep your children healthy.
